ITINERARY:

The Palermo shore excursion first visits the Cathedral of Monreal, considered one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in Sicily. The bright gold mosaics are not to be missed.

We hop back on the bus and head to the city of Palermo to visit the he Royal Palace of Palermo from where the kings of Sicily once ruled. Inside the oldest royal residence in Europe, we’ll see the ornate Palatine Chapel dedicated to St. Peter. Built between 1132 and 1142, the Palace is a stunning combination of decoration, architecture and mosaics. .

Next stop, the cathedral. Due to a long history of additions, alterations and restorations, we can see a mix of different architectural styles. Look out for Norman, Gothic and Neoclassical details.
