ITINERARY:
The first part of this shore excursion will take place in Pisa. Arriving from the port, the bus will take just over an hour, from Livorno just half an hour.
We will of course admire the Leaning Tower, famous all around the world for its unintended tilt. The tower stands 55 metres tall in Piazza del Duomo, and leans at a 4-degree angle.
Taking some classic funny photos is a must at this part of the tour, but we won’t leave without admiring the Cathedral and Baptistry too. After a pleasant stroll through the streets of Pisa, will get back on the bus and leave for Florence.
Our Florence shore excursion will start with a stroll through the streets of the historic centre; a guided tour to discover the illustrious Florentine past.
At Piazza del Duomo we’ll admire one of the most famous sights in Florence: the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The façade of white, green and red marble is an ornate dedication to the Mother of Christ.
After the Baptistery and Giotto’s bell tower, we’ll continue to Piazza della Signoria, contemplating the architecture and listening to the story of the Palazzo Vecchio.
The Florence shore excursion will continue along the River Arno until we reach Ponte Vecchio. At this famous arched bridge, we’ll take some time to browse the many souvenir shops and perhaps even pick up some handmade jewellery.
Nearby is the Loggia del Mercato Nuovo where we’ll find the bronze statue of a wild boar, ‘Il Porcellino.’ It’s customary to offer a coin and rub his snout to bring good fortune.
After a quick stop at Piazza della Repubblica, we’ll have some free time to enjoy ourselves, soaking in the spirit of Florence before our shore excursion concludes and we head back to port.
