ITINERARY:

Our Corfu shore excursion begins in at Achilleion, a grand palace built by Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, sometimes known as Princess Sisi. Designed in the theme of Achilles, look out for paintings and statues of the Greek hero throughout the palace and gardens.

From there we’ll head to Kanoni, in the lagoon of Chalkiopoulos. Here, we’ll have the opportunity to admire the island of Pontikonissi (literally, the island of rats.)

After a short break our shore excursion will resume in the old town of Corfu. In a walking tour of the historical centre, we’ll wander around streets, observing the 19^th century Venetian housing.

As well as Venetian rule, this neoclassical port town was governed under French, British and Greek rule. As such, you’ll spot French-inspired arcades and typically Byzantine churches. We’ll end our Corfu shore excursion will a little free time before returning to the ship for boarding.
